Apple Puree is another one of the most ideal first foods for babies. This sweet fruit is easily digestible and considered to be one of the least allergenic foods. Apple puree is also rich in dietary fiber and helps prevent constipation.Hence it is one of the recommended first fruits to start for a baby.
Apple puree is very easy to make and gets ready quickly. Every child is different and you will need to adjust the consistency of the puree based on your experience with your child. For example, when I had started solids for my elder daughter, I would directly steam and mash the apple and feed her. However I had a totally different experience with my younger one. The first day I fed her mashed apple, she gagged and threw up. It is very frustrating and upsetting to see your baby do that 🙁 I soon realized that with her, I will have to follow a different tactic. So on day 1, I passed the steamed and mashed apple through a strainer to remove all lumps. I also added some milk to thin it further. Once she got used to this, I started to only pass the apple through the strainer, but did not add milk. To cut a long story short, you will need to check how ready your baby is and accordingly adjust the consistency.
