Carrot Puree is a very good first food for the baby because of its sweet taste and numerous health benefits. It is easily digestible and usually does not cause allergies.
Carrots are a rich source of Vitamin A which is needed to support the immune system. It is good for eye health. Carrots also are a great source of fiber and prevent constipation in infants. They also contain iron, calcium and vitamin C.
After starting with Rice Soup and Apple puree for my daughter, I now wanted to start some vegetable. Carrot was the best choice which I could come up with.

Here is the step by step recipe for Carrot Puree with pictures:
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Carrot: 1 small
Method of Preparation:
- Wash and peel the carrot. Cut the required quantity into small pieces.
- Place the carrot pieces in a bowl and place this bowl in a pressure cooker filled with a little water. Cook for 7-8 whistles.
- You can just mash the cooked carrots and feed them if your baby is ready for it.
- If you are just starting solids, you might want to blend the cooked carrot pieces in a blender and get a smoother puree to feed your baby.
- Add breast milk or formula to thin it out as much as required.
Note: It is important to follow the 3 day rule for introducing any new foods. i.e when starting any new food, continue feeding the same food for 3 days to check for any allergic reactions. Only on the 4th day, you can introduce new food item.
