Beat the summer heat with this refreshing and healthy mango drink – Aam ka Panna. Aam means Mango in hindi and this particular recipe uses Raw Mangoes.
Raw mangoes are known to have several health benefits. The most important among these is preventing the excessive loss of water from the body and hence protecting against the negative effects of soaring temperatures. It is also a rich source of Vitamin C and Vitamin B. With the season of raw mangoes coming in, making Sweet and Sour Raw Mango Pickle is a must for me. It can be made and stored for the coming months. Also another famous Goan curry which is made in the raw mango season is Amlechi Uddamethi (Goan Raw Mango Curry).

Serves: 5-6
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Raw Mangoes: 4
Jaggery: 2 cups
Cumin Powder: 4 tsp
Pepper Powder: 1.5 tsp
Lemon juice: 1 tbsp (optional)
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation:
- Steam the mangoes to make them soft. I placed them in the pressure cooker for 1 whistle.
- Remove all the pulp. (I got around one cup of pulp with 4 mangoes)
- Add cumin powder, pepper powder, lemon juice, jaggery and salt. Blend. Note that you may need to add more jaggery based on how sour the mangoes are.
- Take around 3 tbsp of pulp in a glass. Add 2-3 ice cubes. Fill with cold water.
- Garnish with mint leaves and lemon.
