Boondi Raita is the perfect side dish to go with parathas or rice dishes like pulav or biryani. It also tastes great with rotis. In fact my hubby and I also like to eat it just by itself.
Boondi is made from besan or chickpea flour and is so named because it resembles drops (Boond in hindi). It can be made at home too. However, for this recipe I have used boondi purchased from outside.
My mom would make Boondi Raita for me very often when I was a kid as I loved it so much. Since the time I had moved to Bahrain, I had not come across Boondi here. However, a few days back I found it at a store close to my house and was really happy. I immediately picked it and decided to use it for Boondi Raita.
The fact that it is so easy to make and requires hardly 5 mins makes it a regular item in my menu nowadays. You can eat it with parathas like carrot paratha, methi paratha, palak paratha or also as an accompaniment with rice dishes like Green peas and Mint Pulao, Vegetable Pulao, Mushroom Biryani.
