Butter Garlic Masala Prawns is a mouth-watering appetizer which gets ready very quickly. It has an awesome flavor brought about by the garlic and butter used in it.
I first had Butter Garlic Prawns at a restaurant in Goa. My husband and I both loved it so much that we visited the restaurant several times after that just to have the Butter Garlic Prawns. Then one fine day I decided to try it myself at home. I succeeded and my hubby rated it over the one we had eaten at the restaurant. Over the years, I have made several improvisations to the recipe to suit our taste. For e.g. the original recipe uses only butter and garlic, but I add some spices to it as we like it better that way.
Butter Garlic Masala Prawns is extremely easy to make and has always been a super hit with my friends as well as family. So if you like Prawns, this is a must try…do let us know how you like it 🙂
Here is the step by step recipe for butter garlic masala prawns with pictures:
Serves: 2-3
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Prawns : 1 cup shelled and deveined (small)
Cold Unsalted Butter: 4 tbsp heaped
Chili Powder: 1 and 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
Garlic: 2 big bulbs peeled and crushed
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation:
- Apply salt, turmeric powder and chili powder to the prawns and keep aside.
- Heat butter in a pan. Add garlic and stir fry till garlic becomes slightly brown.
- Add prawns to the pan and stir fry for a minute. Close lid and let cook till prawns are completely cooked. Add salt if required. (Note that if you have used salted butter you might need to skip the salt all together)
- Once prawns are cooked, increase the heat and stir fry on high heat for 2-3 minutes till prawns are slightly crispy and brown in color.
Note: You can change the quantity of butter and garlic to suit your taste, but I suggest not reducing it a lot as the flavor is brought about by these ingredients
