Corn appe are small crispy round balls made with sweet corn and semolina. It tastes best when served with tomato ketchup. It serves as a good breakfast or snack item. Also being very healthy, it can be a great tiffin box option for kids.
Appe are very easy to eat as finger food for toddlers. So if you have a toddler for whom you are looking for finger food recipes, corn appe is a must try.
My daughter loves sweet corn in any form, so whenever I come across good quality of sweet corn, I make sure I buy a lot of it. I then use it for breakfast items or salads which she loves in addition to the normal boiled corn on kob smeared with butter 🙂

Serves: 3
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Sweet Corn: 2 cups boiled
Semolina: 1 cup
Green Chilly: 1
Ginger: 1 inch piece
Coriander: 1 tbsp finely chopped
Bicarbonate of soda: 1/4 tsp
Salt: to taste
Oil: for frying
Method of Preparation:
- Grind together the sweet corn, green chilly and ginger to course paste.
- Add to it semolina, bicarbonate of soda, coriander and salt. Mix well. Add 1-2 tbsp water if required to make batter.
- In a appe pan, add 2-3 drops of oil in each slot.
- Put corn- semolina batter in each slot to make it 3/4 full.
- Let cook till golden brown on one side. Turn over and let cook on other side too.
- Serve with tomato ketchup.
