Creamy Pesto Pasta is a delicious recipe in which pasta is tossed in basil pesto sauce which consists of crushed garlic, pine nuts, fresh basil leaves and Parmesan cheese, all blended with olive oil.
My daughter loves creamy pesto pasta, so I finally decided to give it a try at home. Unfortunately, I did not get all the ingredients which I needed to make the basil pesto sauce at home. But I also found that basil pesto sauce is readily available in most supermarkets. So I made the recipe using the ready made basil pesto sauce. It turned out very good and it is an easy and quick recipe to make when you want to have some yummy pasta. I have made it a couple of times now, and everyone at home loves it.
The basil pesto sauce is available on amazon: Antico Casale Pesto alla GENOVESE, 190gm. I used a brand which I found here in Bahrain, but if you choose any good one, you should be ok.
Here is the Creamy Pesto Pasta recipe with pictures:
Serves: 4-5
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 20 mins
Ingredients:
Penne Pasta: 4 cups
Olive Oil: 2 tbsp
Basil Pesto: 1 cup
Heavy Cream: 125 ml
Parmesan Cheese: 1/4 cup grated
Salt: to taste
Pepper: 1/4 tsp
Method of Preparation:
- Cook pasta in a large pan of boiling water till done.
- In a pan, heat olive oil. Add pesto and mix well in the oil. Keep stirring till the pesto is warm and a little bubbly.
- Add the heavy cream slowly and keep stirring. Reduce the heat and continue to stir to incorporate the cream and pesto.
- Add salt and pepper and mix well.
- Add the cooked pasta and mix well to cover all the pasta in the creamy sauce.
- Add parmesan cheese, give a stir and remove from flame.
