Dal Palak or Spinach Dal combines the goodness of Toor Dal and Spinach (Palak) into a delicious curry which tastes good both with rotis and rice. The finely chopped garlic pieces enhances the flavor of this curry.
As everyone knows, adding greens like palak and methi to our diet is very beneficial to our health. I have been lucky that my family loves both methi and palak and hence I incorporate it in our diet very often. I made this recipe after a very long time today and as always it turned out yummy.

Serves: 2-3
Preparation Time : 30 minutes
Cooking Time : 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Onion: 1 finely chopped
Garlic: 10 cloves finely chopped
Palak (Spinach): 5-6 cups chopped
Toor Dal: 1/4 cup
Scraped Coconut: 1/2 cup
Tamarind: 1 marble sized ball
Green Chilies: 2 big
Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation:
- Grind the coconut, green chilies and tamarind into a smooth paste.
- Pressure cook the dal, palak and onion (5 whistles).
- Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic and stir fry till brown.
- Add ground paste and dal-palak mixture to the pan. Mix well.
- Add turmeric powder and salt along with little water. Close lid and bring to boil.
