This date tamarind chutney or khajur imli chutney is usually served with chats like ragda pattice, sprouts chat, shev puri, dahi puri or also with some snacks like samosas, kachoris and hot and sour idlis.
My mom also makes simple Imli chutney or tamarind chutney without dates which also tastes good. But somehow since the time I have made the date tamarind chutney, it has been the go-to recipe for me for chats. The sweetness of the dates and tanginess of the tamarind gives an awesome taste to this chutney which enhances the taste of any dish it is served with.
Dates are an excellent source of iron which determine the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. Hence including dates as a part of your diet is quite beneficial. This simple date tamarind chutney which goes well with most snacks is another way to add dates to your diet.
