Moong Dal Chilla are savory pancakes made with yellow moong dal, spices, vegetables and herbs. They are healthy and easy to make and serve as a perfect snack or breakfast option.
Ingredients
Moong Dal: 1 cup
Turmeric Powder: ¼ tsp
Chili Powder: ¼ tsp
Cumin Powder: ½ tsp
Onion: 1 medium finely chopped
Green Chilies: 2 finely chopped
Coriander: a handful finely chopped
Ginger: 1 inch grated
Salt: 1 tsp
Instructions
Wash the moong dal a couple of times. Soak in sufficient water for 3-4 hours.
Drain the water and grind the moong dal to a smooth batter using around ¼ cup water.
Add the turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well.
Add the onions, chilies, coriander and ginger and mix well. Keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
If the batter is too thick, you can add 1-2 tbsp water, but do not make it too watery as it will be difficult to make the chillas.
Heat 1 tsp oil on a pan and pour a ladleful of the batter on the pan. Starting from the center, spread in a circular motion to make it as thin as you can.
Keep covered and cook till golden brown on one side. Flip over and let cook on the other side too.
