Green Peas Kebab is a healthy and tasty green peas recipe which is very simple and serves as a great appetizer. It is also a very quick recipe and acts as savior when you have guests coming over on short notice and you still want to make something different and delicious.
Green peas are loved by almost everyone, especially kids. My daughter has always loved green peas and I remember boiling them, adding a little butter to it and giving it to her ever since she was so little.
Here is the step by step Green Peas Kebab recipe with pictures (recipe adapted from NDTV Food):
Makes: 12-15 small kebabs
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Green peas: 1 cup frozen
Cashew nuts: 12
Garlic: 10 cloves
Ginger: 1 inch piece
Green Chilies: 2-3
Coriander: 1/4 cup
Onion: 1 small finely chopped
Besan(Chickpea flour): 4 tsp
Rice flour: 4 tsp
Lime juice: 1 tsp
Salt: to taste
Cornflakes: 1 cup crushed
Oil: to fry
Method of Preparation:
- Powder the cashew nuts. Keep aside.
- Grind the ginger, garlic, green chilies and coriander to a paste. Add this to the powdered cashew nuts.
- Soak the green peas for 5 minutes in warm water. Drain all the water and grind the green peas to coarse paste. Add to the cashew nuts-coriander mixture.
- Add onion, besan, rice flour, lime juice and salt to taste. Mix well. If the mixture looks too wet, add a little more rice flour.
- Divide mixture into 112-15 small balls.
- Take a portion and flatten it to make kebab. Roll in crushed cornflakes.
- Heat oil in a flat frying pan and shallow fry on low heat till golden brown on all sides.
Serve with tomato ketchup
