Lauki ka Halwa is a delicious Indian dessert made of bottle gourd also known as lauki in hindi. It can be made very quickly and requires a few simple ingredients.
My mom makes awesome Indian desserts and most of the Indian dessert recipes I have posted on this blog are learnt from her. Some of my mom’s special favorite recipes are Tavsalli (Goan Cucumber Cake), Poha Kheer, Sheera (Suji ka Halwa), Rice Kheer or Paysam, Atta Ladoo, Pineapple Halwa and Puran Poli. This time when I visited my mom I learnt two new dessert recipes from her : Lauki ka Halwa and Lauki ki Kheer.
Here is the step by step recipe for lauki ka halwa with pictures:
Serves: 3-4
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Lauki: 1.5 cups grated
Ghee: 2 tsp
Milk: 1.5 cups
Sugar: 1/2- 3/4 cup
Milk powder: 4 tbsp
Cashew Nuts: As required
Raisins: As required
Method of Preparation:
- Heat ghee in a pan and stir fry the lauki till slightly soft.
- Add milk and milk powder and let cook till milk dries.
- Add sugar, cashew nuts and raisins and mix well.
