Paneer Popcorn is a crunchy paneer appetizer\snack recipe which is easy to make and sure to be a hit with kids.
I generally make an evening snack for my kids and have to think of new recipes from time to time to keep them interested. They love paneer and when I tried this recipe, they loved it. I am sure this would be quite a regular in my house now.
Here is the step by step recipe of Paneer Popcorn with pictures:
Serves: 3-4
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Paneer: 1 and 1/4 cup cut into 1/2 inch pieces
All purpose flour (maida) : 1/4 cup
Red Chili Powder: 1 tsp
Garam Masala: 3/4 tsp
Pepper Powder: 1/2 tsp
Ginger Paste: 1 tsp
Garlic Paste: 1 tsp
Dried Basil: 1/2 tsp
Dried Oregano: 1/2 tsp
Salt: to taste
Bread Crumbs: 1/2 cup
Oil: to deep fry
Method of Preparation:
- Mix together the Maida, 3/4 tsp chili powder, garam masala, pepper powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, dried basil, dried oregano and salt to taste.
- Add a little less than 3/4 cup of water to the maida mixture and make a thick paste. The paste should not be very runny.
- In the bread crumbs, add salt to taste and 1/4 tsp red chili powder.
- Add the paneer cubes to the maida mixture and then dip it in the bread crumbs to coat it.
- Keep the paneer pieces in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a kadai. Once hot, deep fry the paneer pieces till golden brown and crispy.
- The paneer popcorn tastes good when eaten with tomato ketchup.
