Paneer Tikka is an Indian Appetizer recipe wherein paneer along with some other vegetables is marinated in a yogurt and spices mixture and grilled.
We love grilled starters and keep trying new ones from time to time. Paneer tikka is one of the favorites in our house as the kids love it. The onion and capsicum which is added to the marinade along with Paneer also tastes great. It tastes best when served with mint chutney.

Serves: 3-4
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Marination Time: 1 hour
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
Paneer pieces: 300 gms
Hung Curd: 10 tbsp
Chili Powder: 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder: 1/4 tsp
Salt: 3/4 tsp
Coriander Powder: 1 and 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala: 1 tsp
Chat Masala: 1/2 tsp
Ginger Paste: 1/2 tsp
Garlic Paste: 1/2 tsp
Kasuri methi: 1 tsp
Chickpea Flour (Besan): 1 tbsp
Oil: 1 and 1/2 tbsp
Onion: 1
Yellow or Red Capsicum: 1
Green Capsicum : 1
Method of Preparation:
- Mix together the hung yogurt, chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, coriander powder, garam masala, chat masala, ginger paste, garlic paste and kasuri methi.
- Heat the oil and add besan to it. Roast it until fragrant. Once it has cooled, add it to the marinade of step 1 and mix well.
- Add the vegetable pieces to the marinade and mix well. Then add the paneer pieces and carefully coat them with the marinade so that they do not break. Keep them in the fridge for 1 hour for marination.
- Put Paneer and vegetable pieces on the skewers. I generally alternate and add a piece of paneer followed by onion, green and red capsicum and then repeat. Be careful while putting the paneer pieces on the skewer as they tend to break.
- Arrange the skewers on the grill plate and grill till the paneer and vegetables are fully cooked. You will need to flip it to the other side from time to time so that it is evenly cooked on all sides.
- Serve with mint chutney.
Note: If you are using wooden skewers, keep them dipped in water for 5 minutes before using them to avoid scorching.
