Spicy and Tangy – these pickled prawns are an awesome dish that go well with almost everything – Rotis, Naan, Pav or Rice. It is very easy to prepare and uses simple ingredients.
I had been very busy before New Year’s Eve. In fact, I had hardly cooked anything for the last few days of 2015. Short trips, spending time with friends and family, that is how my New Year started 🙂 Finally, after a gap of almost 7 days of not trying new recipes, I was aching to enter the kitchen again. I decided to start 2016 with an awesome lunch with new recipes. The menu was decided – Pickled Prawns, Chicken Kofta Curry and Cheesy Rice. It turned out great. Hope you like these new recipes too 🙂
I have already posted Chicken Kofta Curry and Cheesy rice yesterday. Here is the step by step recipe for Pickled Prawns with pictures:
Serves : 3-4
Preparation Time : 15 min
Cooking time : 15 min
Ingredients:
Prawns: 15-20 medium sized shelled and deveined
Dry Red Chilies: 12 small
Tomato: 2 medium
Onion: 2 medium
Oil: 4 tbsp
Sugar: 1 tsp
Vinegar: 4 tbsp
Chili Powder: 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
Salt: to taste
Coriander: 2 tbsp finely chopped
Method of Preparation:
- Apply chili powder, turmeric powder and salt to prawns and keep aside.
- Soak dry red chilies in warm water for 10 mins and grind to paste with tomato and onion.
- In a pan, heat oil. Add the prawns and stir fry till prawns turn whitish. Remove and keep aside.
- In the same pan, add the red chili paste and stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Add sugar, salt and vinegar and mix well.
- Add the prawns and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Garnish with coriander.
