Prawns Butter Masala is a preparation of prawns in a tomato and cream based gravy. The ingredients and preparation is quite similar to butter chicken and hence the name Prawns Butter Masala… 🙂
The cream and butter give this gravy a very rich taste which when combined with the scrumptious taste of prawns gives you a finger licking combination which would make you keep asking for more.

This time it was this delicious preparation of Prawns Butter Masala. We all loved this preparation and hope that you too like it…I believe that it tastes best with rice, though you can also eat it with rotis or Pav (Dinner rolls)

Ingredients:
For Marinate:
Prawns: 1 cup medium sized
Lemon Juice: 1 tbsp
Chilli Powder: 1 tsp
Ginger paste: 1/2 tsp
Garlic Paste: 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
Salt: to taste
For Gravy
Butter: 1 tbsp
Ginger Paste: 1/2 tsp
Garlic Paste: 1/2 tsp
Oil: 1 tbsp
Onion: 2 medium finely chopped
Tomatoes: 3 medium pureed
Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
Chilli Powder: 2 tsp
Garam Masala: 1 tbsp
Yoghurt: 1/2 cup
Cream: 1/4 cup
Salt: to taste
Coriander: 2 tbsp finely chopped
Method of Preparation:
- Apply all the marinate ingredients mentioned above so as to properly coat all the prawns. Keep aside for 30 minutes.
- Heat butter in a pan. Add prawns and stir fry for 2-3 minutes till they look a little whitish. Keep them aside.
- Heat oil in the same pan. Add onion and ginger garlic pastes. Saute till onion turns translucent.
- Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt. Mix well and stir fry for a minute.
- Add tomato puree and mix well. Close lid and let cook for 2-3 minutes. The tomato gravy will thicken a bit.
- Add yoghurt and cream and mix well.
- Add the butter fried prawns and mix well. Cook for a minute.
- Garnish with coriander.
