This Prawns Curry is a very simple recipe of prawns cooked in an onion-tomato gravy. This is my go-to recipe when I want to make some prawns curry quickly.
Being a Goan, I usually make the Prawns curry with coconut to be eaten with rice. However, sometimes when I am too bored to scrap the coconut or want to make some curry quickly, this prawns curry recipe without coconut acts as the savior. It gets ready very quickly and uses simple ingredients.
Here is the step by step recipe for this simple Prawns Curry with pictures:
Serves: 2-3
Preparation Time : 10 min
Cooking Time : 20 min
Ingredients:
Onions: 1 big
Garlic: 2 cloves
Tomatoes: 2 medium
Prawns: 1 cup shelled and deveined
Turmeric powder: 1 tsp
Chili Powder: 2 tsp
Curd: 2 tbsp
Salt: to taste
Coriander: to garnish
Method of Preparation:
- Apply 1 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt to taste to prawns and keep aside.
- In a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil. Add garlic and onion and stir fry till translucent.
- Add tomatoes and stir fry till tomatoes become soft.
- Add remaining turmeric powder, chili powder and salt and mix well. Keep aside and let cool.
- Grind the onion tomato mixture to paste.
- In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp oil. Stir fry the prawns till white.
- Add the paste to the prawns and mix well. Let cook for a few minutes.
- Add curd and mix well.
- Garnish with coriander.
