A very delicious Prawns Pulao recipe which has a very different taste brought about by the ground spices and coriander added to it.
Prawns are a favorite in my house. After all, they taste good in any form. They are perfect to make appetizers (Butter Garlic Masala Prawns, Prawns Cutlets, Prawn Stuffed Snake gourd), make excellent gravies (Prawns Butter Masala, Goan Prawns Curry,Prawns Curry(without coconut) and are also great as a part of Pulao or Biryani.
Of all the Prawn dishes, my daughter loves Prawns Pulao the most. I had posted a Prawns Pulao recipe a few days back which is a quick and easy recipe and perfect when you are short on time and yet want to eat something tasty. This particular recipe for Green Prawns Pulao is a little more elaborate as compared to the other Pulao recipe. However, it is also tasty at the same time. It uses a mix of a lot of veggies, prawns and eggs and has a unique taste brought about by the ground green masala.
My mom used to make this Pulao very often when I was a kid because I loved it so much and even now when I go home to Goa, it is one dish which is sure to be waiting for me 🙂

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Prawns: 1 cup shelled and deveined
Basmati rice: 2 cups
Carrot: 1 peeled and sliced into thin strips
Capsicum: 1 sliced into thin strips
Green peas: 1/2 cup
Ginger: 2 inch piece
Garlic: 20 cloves
Onion: 2-3 chopped
Cinnamon: 1 inch piece
Cloves: 5-6
Peppercorns: 10-12
Green chilies: 2-3
Coriander: 1 cup
Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
Chili Powder: 1/2 tsp
Tamarind: 1 marble sized ball
Water: 5 cups
Eggs: 2
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation:
- Apply salt, turmeric powder (1/2 tsp) and chili powder (1/2 tsp) to the prawns and keep aside.
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and stir fry the onion till translucent. Remove it and keep aside.
- Add more oil to the same pan and stir fry the carrot, capsicum and green peas in the pan and keep aside with the onion.
- Stir fry the Prawns and add to the veggies which are kept aside.
- Break the eggs in the kadai and stir fry. Add to the veggies.
- Grind together the ginger, garlic, green chilies, cinnamon, cloves, peppercorns, coriander and tamarind.
- In a pan, mix together all the stir fried vegetables,eggs, prawns and the chili coriander paste from step 6. Add salt and turmeric powder(1/2 tsp) and let cook. Keep it aside.
- Heat a little ghee in the kadai and stir fry the rice. Add the veggies-prawns-egg mixture to the rice and mix well.
- Heat the water separately and add to rice. Close lid and let rice cook on medium heat till rice is completely cooked.
