Sesame Bread fingers is an excellent snack or appetizer; a vegetable mixture is smeared on bread, topped with sesame seeds and shallow fried. It also serves as a wonderful tiffin box option for kids and finger food for toddlers.
You can use a combination of veggies which your kid does not enjoy in the direct form, so it serves as a great way to feed veggies to fussy eaters.
Here is the step by step recipe for Sesame Bread Fingers with pictures:
Makes: 33 bread fingers
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Onions: 1 cup finely chopped
Capsicum: 1 cup finely chopped
Potatoes: 1.5 cups boiled and mashed
Garlic: 4-5 finely choppd
Carrot: 1 cup grated
Soya Sauce: 2 tsp
Chili Powder: 2 tsp
Bread slices: 11
Maida: 1/2 cup dissolved in 3/4 cup water
Sesame seeds: 1/4 cup
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation:
- Heat a little oil in a pan and stir fry the onion till translucent. Add garlic and stir fry briefly.
- Add capsicum and stir fry for 1-2 minutes.
- Add carrot and stir fry for 1-2 minutes.
- Add potatoes, soya sauce, chili powder and salt and mix well. Stir fry continuously for 2-3 minutes. Let cool.
- Take a slice of bread and spread a little vegetable mixture on top of it evenly.
- Apply a little maida water paste on top of it and sprinkle sesame seeds on it.
- Heat a little oil in a pan and shallow fry on both sides till brown. Cut into 3 pieces.
- Repeat for all other slices.
