Spicy Beer Prawns is a quick prawn starter recipe in which prawns are cooked in a beer based gravy. This mouth-watering dish has a very unique taste.
Usually on Thursday nights, I attempt something which I have never made before. Basically it is a weekend special meal 🙂 This weekend I tried these Spicy Beer Prawns and Grilled Fish. Both the dishes turned out good and we loved them.
Spicy Beer Prawns is very easy to prepare. We had it as an appetizer, but you could also serve it with the main course. I think it would also taste great with bread (Pav).
Here is the step by step recipe for Spicy Beer Prawns with pictures:
Serves: 3-4
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Prawns: 500 gm shelled and deveined
Onion: 1 medium finely chopped
Garlic: 4 cloves finely chopped
Ginger: 1 inch piece finely chopped
Coriander: 2 tbsp finely chopped
Beer: 2/3 cup
Tomato Ketchup: 1/2 cup
Red Chili Flakes: 3/4 tsp
Pepper Powder: 1/4 tsp
Red Chili Powder: 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation:
- Apply chili powder, turmeric powder and salt on the prawns and keep aside.
- In a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil. Add onion, garlic and ginger and stir fry till translucent.
- Add beer, tomato ketchup, salt, pepper and chili flakes. Bring to boil.
- Add prawns and cook on low heat till prawns are cooked. Garnish with coriander. Let gravy dry up a little.
Note: We wanted to have it as a starter, so allowed the gravy to dry up completely. In case you want to eat it with bread or rice or roti, you can keep some gravy.
