Nothing is more delicious and tempting than warm chocolate cookies with chocolate chips just out of the oven. And when it is made of whole wheat flour, you can indulge in them guilt free to some extent.
And with these cookies, my love and experiment for whole wheat cookies continues. After successfully making whole wheat cookies with jaggery, whole wheat choco chip cookies, whole wheat coffee cookies, now was the turn for something more chocolaty – whole wheat chocolate cookies. Being the chocolate lover that I am, I made them more chocolaty with chocolate chips :D.
Here is the step by step whole wheat chocolate cookies recipe with pictures:
Makes : 25 cookies
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Sugar : 1/2 cup
Brown sugar : 1/2 cup
Unsalted Butter : 1/2 cup (softened)
Cocoa Powder: 1/4 cup
Oil : 2 tbsp
Vanilla essence : 1 tsp
Egg :1
Whole Wheat Flour : 1.5 cups
Baking Soda : 1 tsp
Chocolate Chips : 3/4 cup
Salt : a pinch
Method of Preparation:
- Sift together the wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the Sugars, Butter, Oil, Vanilla Essence.
- Add the egg and mix well.
- Mix together the flour and the egg-butter mixture to form dough.
- Add in the chocolate chips to the dough.
- Divide the dough into 25 circular portions. Gently flatten each portion with your palm.
- Preheat oven to 190 deg cel and bake for 10-15 min.
- Remove the cookies from the oven, they will be soft, especially the centers – and that is fine as they will harden later. Cool on a wire rack.
Note: The amount of time for which you need to bake the cookies might vary based on the oven used.
